Looking back in the archives of GFF screenshots, it's obvious that the front page has essentially looked the same for almost 10 years
GFF has been looking the same for almost a decade, and even though we haven't changed anything radical, there are changes in appearance.
If we look back in our archives of GFF screenshots we can see that the front page has essentially looked the same for almost 10 years.
If you take a swing by the Waybackmachine maintained by archive.org, you can see screen dumps dating back to 1999. GFF has existed longer than that, but under different names and URL's.

Most of this time it has looked basically the same and still does. You can easily recognize the design, and the two small graphic files that make the logo on the gray bars on the front page are the exact same files as those used in the first incarnation of the Global FlyFisher.
One major problem with the original layout of the pages has been the menus leading to all the different sections. These have been different from the front page to the sub pages and they have been small and not very well structured. We have long needed a new menu structure, and preferably one that is uniform over the whole site.
We have that now.
GFF has a drop down menu!
The new menu is the same all over the site (apart from some really old pages), and is much easier to use and to work with for both the visitors and me. Adding, removing and changing links is easier for me and getting to pages deeper in the hierarchy is easier for the you.
Suddenly pages that were once hidden are now immediately available.
I don't make changes to the look of GFF that often, so don't expect any further changes or a major overhaul right away.
I have recently gone through some really old Streamers articles and updated them to the current design and system:
- The Copper Swap from 1998
- The Rangeley Style Swap from 1999
- Flyfish@ Smelt Swap, also 1998
- White Marabou by Bob Petti, from 2001 or before
- West Carry Dace by Dave Prince, pre-2001
But you can still find relics from the heydays...

I'll get around to these real-soon-now, so enjoy the old look while you can!
