I am not versed in the laws of copyright and patents but, in my mind, to intentionally try to make money from someone else's idea or art without their permission is morally and ethically wrong. Trying to rationalise it wont make it right.
Fine work Tom.
Cheers,
Steve.

John,
I use the method with a loop made on the core of the fly line as described above. Using Aquaseal or a similar glue makes the loop very smooth and it can be kept small. Not all fly lines have cores that are suited, but most have.

Thanks. If you were to make a loop at the tag end of the fly line which one would you make?
Nice job, I like the way you attached the hook with the wire. What was the gauge on the wire? Do you think a 26 guage wire would be sufficient? Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic video guys. I am happy to live in this area and enjoy the wonderful fishing/tramping all year round.:) I look foward to hopefully meeting on the bank one day! TightLines Chris Beare Queenstown Otago
I like Davies tying. He shows how easy it can be to tie difficult looking flies.
And he's not relentlessly modern, he will never forget a traditionally style.

John,
If you mean for attaching the leader to the fly line, I recommend a nail knot, a nailless nail knot or an Albright knot.
Hope this helps

Tom,
I am writing a new book on terrestrial fly patterns from around the world, if interested please email me for information. Your pattern is outstanding!
Thanks,
Rick
Great tying, Jon. I've missed seeing Harry at the NW Tying Expo.
This fly is an absolute cracker,i bet it would take most predatory fish.I am sure your friend Harry would agree,it is also extremely well tied...
Wow, that fly rocks! The orange and olive-colored hackles come together perfectly, and the intermittent black spots on the dyed grizzly hackle add tremendous realism. Tasty!
Hallo Jeff,
Thank you for explaining the copyright and patent applications. I know the business very well, I am working at The Dutch Patent and Trademark office. I was aware of the danger that someone could use my design to make a profit when I was writing the article, but the protection against it, is a very costly thing. So I didn' t do that.
Thanks for caring and for the nice words about the " amazing" design and my work.
Kind regards,
Tom Biesot.
Good tie ruined by the overly casual narration. Perhaps I'm too old for 'coolness' of youth.
I have thought the same thoughts as yourself, Martin.
We had lots of patience, changed location multiple times, changed tactics, etc. It must have been 'one of those days'. The weather had changed quite dramatically that day, from heavy rain and wind the day before, to glorious weather the day we fished. I had thought that this could have effected the fish.
Well I'm going to try my luck this evening, and am hoping that lady luck will be on my side this time.
Darren, very creative! love the colors! I bet Mr. brook trout will love it in small sizes. One of your Fishier patterns. Congrats!
