Soft Hackle Glass Emerger

The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is a quick/ easy tie and very effective mayfly emerger pattern. I generally fish this fly within the surface film or on the swing. The iridescent glass bead gives the illusion of an air bubble of an emerging fly and the fluoro fibre wing has an excellent UV light quality. I also tie this pattern with a light cahill thread to mimic a PMD or Light Cahill, as well as an olive brown thread to mimic a Blue Winged Olive. Tie some of them up and see for yourself.

The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is tied on an AFF N304 (straight-eye, 2x - short, reversed bend hook). This is my favorite hook that Allen Fly Fishing produces. It's thin wire and perfect reversed bend makes it a superior emerger hook. Check out their full line of hooks and beads by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
