Purple Cigar Bomber

To illustrate this technique for tying these iconic Canadian surface lures for salmon and steelhead, I have chosen the Purple Cigar Bomber. This pattern contains just about every element that is to be found in all the other bomber patterns. Calf tail, wing and tail, spun deer hair body, palmered body hackle and front collar hackle.

Tail: White Calf tail hair
Wing: White calf tail hair
Body: Purple Deer belly hair
Palmer hackle: Brown saddle
Collar hackle: Brown saddle
