Although it is widely believed that salmon flies rarely represent anything on the salmon's menu, there is a family of flies that are designed to mimic an important food source, the shrimp flies. Without comparison, the best and most wellknown is the General Practitioner. It was invented in England by Colonel Esmond Drury. In this video we have danish flyfisher and flytyer Mads Birkholt to demonstrate his version of the classic in a modern version. Mads says about the fly. "The GP Zonker has been in my fly box for several years chasing salmon and seatrout. It works great in high and colored water whether it’s in Norway during the summer fishing for salmon or in Denmark fishing for the earliest chrome seatrout in January."
