#127 Unidentified #2 - Mike Boyer

Tied by: Mike Boyer
Originated by: Austin Hogan
Source: Forgotten Flies - Schmookler & Sils

Hook: Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek Rangeley Streamer 6xl
Thread: Black 70 denier
Tail: Wood duck
Butt: black ostrich herl
Body: Flat silver tinsel
Belly: Peacock herl and white bucktail (note: no Peacock herl on the fly shown here)
Throat: Brown hackle
Wing: 4 white hackles
Shoulder: Wood duck flank
Cheeks: Jungle cock
Head: Black

Notes: There is a unique balance to this pattern with the wood duck tail and shoulder on each end and framed in white with the wing and belly. The original pattern also calls for peacock herl in the belly, but I'm not sure the pattern needs it. I would however like to see a topping of peacock. I think that would be a nice touch to this beautiful smelt pattern.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
