Midwest Hatches

Don't be fooled by the title! This hatch chart encompasses 46 different 'hatches' that are applicable to the entire US. It's ready to print out and keep by your tying desk for ready reference (Web, PDF and Excel formats). It's the most complete hatch chart on the net!

Ephemera sp. Mayfly

This hatch chart is representative of most common Midwestern United States hatches (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan & Southern Ontario Canada).  For colder weather, adjust the chart 1-2 weeks out and for warmer weather, adjust the chart 1-2 weeks in advance.

The lighter colored bars () represent marginal periods to fish the emerger or dry fly pattern.  It's best to fish nymphs during this timeframe.

The darker colored bars () represent peak periods where surface action will be at its' finest.  Be sure to fish emergers and dry flies during this period.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
