Nice Write up about Ora. I grew up near his house and spent many times in his den while he was tying flies as a child. I still have a small assortment of his flies in one of my boxes. I even have one of his pumpkin heads! I bought a Ruger 10/22 from him and got to shoot it in his basement shooting range. It was interesting as it ran underneath his driveway as I recall.

Martin,
Your words echo with me as well and are sage advice indeed. A friend once told me, after I said to him (about something I wanted to very much do), "I'll do that someday". He said, "Son, (then a long pause) there is no some day". The man was a veteran of the battle for Bastogne in WWII, who shared with me... "some things".
I had to think about what he said for a minute, before it hit me like a hammer. Some day never happens. There is today. Live it!
I've tried to follow that creed as best I can...albeit now with a renewed vigor, with my two sons!
Keep the faith, Martin!

Lovely fly Don. The profile is perfect! This would be a good fly to have in your fly box for sure.

Black flies seem to work anywhere,i bet this would work great on our large brown trout here in Scotland especially at this time of year when they start to feed on the fry...

It is a cornetfish usually caught with small soft plastic white lures.. We catch it a lot in the Mediterranean, it's new to our shores .. They usually feed on anything resembling a fish chasing the and literally sucking them into their straw resembling snouts
I must say, my jaw dropped when I gazed at this immense beauty. That is an outstanding tie, LOVED IT.

Hi Carlos, I came across one of your fly patterns here and saw that you are Colombian. I'm preparing to move to the Altillanura to develop a farm. I am incredibly interested in learning more about fly fishing there, but information is very hard to find. I would love to learn more from you. If you would be willing, please email me at tylermcclendon [at] gmail [dot] com
Thank you
