  1. Run on the thread at the eye, take down to the bend in touching turns and remove the tag end.
  2. Tie in the ends of the prepared tail on either side of the hook.
  3. Cut a strip of foam the width of the hook gape, catch in at the bend and tie down up and down the hook shank.
  4. Dub along the hook shank to just behind the hook eye and back down towards the bend.
  5. Fold the foam forward and tie down one about one quarter of the way up the hook.
  6. Cut sections from the edges of a piece of ribbon, melt the ends and tie in on either side of the hook.
  7. Advance the thread forward and tie in the foam and legs.
  8. Repeat forming further body sections and securing the legs.
  9. Smear the thread with varnish, whip finish and remove the thread.
