Gregg,
good to know that GFF inspires you and keeps you motivated and dreaming. I hope your shoulder pains will disappear soon, so you can go testing a Brown Spinner or two.

Watched 15 mins. of this before I turned it off. Don't care much for some rich geriatrics waving their fly rods and patting themselves on their backs for their "achievements" in their South-American playground, and boasting about the good life like they invented the place. Patagonia seems beautiful though.
found this artical very helpfull as ive just picked up a fly rod. many sites that give info but not as indepth or explaining things so i a novice can easily understand very helpfull.
Kasper,
Your eloquence in writing coupled with your wonderful photographs help set this site apart. Kudos for a great story and pattern. That fly would do well for a whole variety of mayfly species here in Idaho, as it is especially for the Pale Morning Dun, Ephemerella inermis, infrequens, spinner-as well as others common here. As an aside, still trying to heal from rotator cuff injuries so no fishing, (so frustratung,) but my tying has expanded greatly by perusal of this site. Am anxious to try some flies learned from your selections on our trout, whitefish, and other fish here.
Again, great read! Gregg
Hello

Hello; I have made furled leaders on jigs and they are a pain..Hand twisted leaders are the way to go,less hassle and they turn over great whth only one knot to contend with.,and less problems with the loops.5'ft and 7ft with 2ft tippet work fine.
Thank You
Nicely weighted fly, good for those deep holes, especially if tungsten is used. Nice one.
I've had a sully's for over 10 yrs. The belts are cracking - need some new ones. Help me if you can. Go to a trophy shop and ask for half inch double sided tape. I dried over 30 fly rods on about 12" of this stuff. a 60 yrd roll will last a life time.
Gary,
my favourite seller for tungsten products can be contacted at www.tungsten-beads.co.uk.
These beads have got a very good quality for a reasonable price!

G'day Ron... How'z things up there in phrozen Maineiac Land?!
Thanks for the kind words... The eyez notion solved several challenges and continues to serve me well... I love when a plan comes together!
Regarding "UV glue"... I've thoroughly tested the Tuffleye, CCG, and Bug-Bond...
I've also used the Loon Knot Sense and Wader Patch and they perform nicely but I haven't tried Loon at the tying station...
Tuffleye FLEX and Bug-Bond hold a highly praised and special place on my list of cutting edge innovative tying tools...
I've used the last of my CCG and won't be returning for any more.
Haven't used epoxy in ages and don't miss is at all... not even a little bit... the Acrylic evolution is amazing!
Take care and stay warm...

Parts 1 2 & 3 of the Surf and Inshore Fishing videos are the best videos on GFF. Great filming and beautiful and evocative soundtrack - and I wish we had fishing as good as that here in Wales.
I have found that American Fishing Wire's Surflon Micro Supreme plastic coated stainless steel wire is an excellent leader for pike and other toothy fish. It can be tied using palomar , clinch, or albright knots.
I have found that the 6 kg. test is flexible enough to give any fly excellent action. The only drawback is the cost of$19.99 for five meters .
Very fishy looking Pete, good job! and thank you for the tips on making eyes. Have you tried the LOON brand of UV glue?
The Rotterdam show was a great success, in spite of the harsh winter conditions (snow, slippery roads).
This is one of the simplest explanations of the Petitjean tool I have seen. As good as a video! Great description coupled with the great photos. Keep up the good work!
Interesting affect - use sili skin pearlescent back and then mark it... It is brown with some pearly shine.. sort of like caddis goo shine from the secretions if held up to the sun.
The Rotterdam show was a big success last evening.
Despite the bad winter conditions nearly all of the 125 people enjoyed the event.
… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
