One of the most familiar and readily available amphipods on the fishes menu is various species of gammarus, found in large numbers around the shore line of both fresh and salt water. A simple elk hair pattern that is always worth having in your box!

Hook: Mustad Heritage C49AP # 14-8
Tying thread: Nano silk 18/0
Underbody: Lead tape strips
Tail: Elk rump hair
Rib: Bright copper wire
Shell back: Natural elk rump hair
Body: Spiky hares ear dubbing
Shell back coating, optional: UV resin
