Steeler Bugger
In this fly tying tutorial, fun is definitely the name of the game! Through a forum dedicated to fly tying, known as the Fly Tying Forum (link below), a thread was started related to your favorite football team coupled with fly tying. Put that pair together, and my pattern emerged as the "Steeler Bugger!"
For starters, this woolly bugger is definitely just a fun pattern, being that I've never fished it (yet!). I wanted to focus on black and gold colors, as my team is known for. Basically, I wanted a fly that had the potential to catch some fish, represent my hometown team (the Pittsburgh Steelers) and play along with the forum fun...hence the "Steeler Bugger."

Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
