Notes: Years ago (near a millennium by Barry's retelling) Barry was asked to a fishing camp with a group of anglers in pursuit of gargantuan lake raised rainbow trout. It is a well known fact the Barry has affection for streamer flies and so he was presented with a pattern from Dan Bailey's shop tied on a 10xl streamer hook. The pattern turned out to be a hair wing version of the Silver Doctor and was proven to be a an effective lure on the the lake. Barry took the pattern and applied a few modifications, including a shorter 6xl hook, to suit his own needs. Some thirty years later, it is still coaxing the gargantuan trout of that lake (and others) to hit the Silver Doctor.

Nice version of the original Silver Doctor with Jungle Cock from Dan Bailey's Fly Shop in the early 1970's Barry. Found this pattern to be most effective in the evening until just after dark for the big
Rainbows. Many fond memories.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
