#277 Minnesota - Team Colors Collection - Don Soar #277 Minnesota - Team Colors Collection - Don Soar

Tied by: Don Soar
Originated by: Don Soar

Hook: Gaelic Supreme Mike Martinek Rangeley Streamer hook 8xl #2
Thread: Black
Body: Purple floss
Rib: Gold oval tinsel
Throat: White schlappen and golden pheasant crest
Wing: 4 purple hackles
Shoulder: Lady Amherst pheasant tippet
Eye: Jungle cock nail
Head: Black

Notes: The Vikings have been a part of the NFL since 1960, coming to the league as an expansion team. Purple pride is easy to spot in Don's creation, with both the wing and body dressed in Vikes colours. Viktor the Viking's golden locks manifest themselves in the yellow of the pheasant crest used on the pattern's throat. It has been said that purple is a color that trout can easily key in on, in part because of properties in the color's wavelength, it can be seen well after other colours disappear in the water. At times when the river is quiet, a purple streamer can inject some action into the water.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
