Dear Dave,
I recently purchased a used sage fly rod. The rod looks like brand new except the store I purchased it from put a price sticker on the cork handle. I tried to remove the sticker but could not get all of the sticker or adhesive residue off of the cork. Do you have any suggestions on how I might remove it? If I sand it do I need to seal it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Tom,
You will need a Snowbee rear screw as well as the tube adapter itself. The original Waldron screw has a different thread. Snowbee can deliver it as a spare part. The fit of the adapter is not perfect, but it works.

This week the bonefish have been averaging 7 to 9 pounds in Kaneohe Bay. Largest was 14 pounds and several 11 and 12 pounders. Those were Boga-grip weights... not guesses. LOL

Well !!! there you go again, using me as an example of crazyness *LOL* Luckily I'm not hampered by paranoia. I found the tube fly articles most informative but in your section on hooks you did leave out one style though, the 180 degree double opposed hook. It's sort of a UK thing but after I was introduced to them by a UK type I started to use them in Alaska with amazing results (I even have a pic or two someplace). Often salmon are solidly packed in a stream and foul hooking is the order of the day. The 180 Deg hook eliminates a lot of that yet hookups by mouth are better than a single hook. Go figure

WOW- WOW-WOW !!!!!!!!!! This is a real inspiration for a beginner. Gathering up materials and building a desk right now. Again, they are beautiful and fantastic.

WOW, this is the best summary I have ever seen on the inner workings of tube flies. Magnificent article and diagrams, Martin. I am grateful for the time and effort you put into these articles. Thank you for sharing this very useful information.

I dont think that glue exists !
..... Found a glue on the net which seems to do what I wanted "Miracle Glue"
Apparently Miracle Glue can also be used to mend holes in your waders, so there's an added bonus!
..... Here's another glue which gets good reviews "Pro's Soft Bait Glue"
As if it were that easy, apparently they only deliver in the US!

Martin:
You said: "The new Snowbee/Waldron vise has a Tube Fly attachment as an option, and this option fits my original Waldron vise with a bit of woodoo." And somewhere else in you rarticle you mention a "snowbee fingerscrew".
Precisely, what kind of "woodoo" are you talking about?
I enjoyed your whole series on tube flying very much. It is almost an entire textbook on this art of tying.
Thank you!
Tom
hi,
I dont think that glue exists ! I use loctite 406 plastic and rubber,I nail not double catch braided loop to line and a drop or two on knot ,this will leech onto line and braid so be careful and don't use to much.I use this on all shooting heads and I have never had a loop let go ,I tested it on an old line some time ago and was very very strong ,only drawback is cost of 406 is 48 euro small bottle !!

There are some things in life not worth the time and expense, this is one of them. The threads and fine dubbing materials I use require no wax.

Thanks.Just started tying tube flies. In the 20 minutes that I spent reading your " ...Turmoil of Tube...", you have given me more insight into the nature of tube tying, than the many, many, many hours that I've spent trying to get the same information from the web. Seeing all the different tube types & etc. in one place can only help accelerate one's progress in tying tubes. Looking forward to more!
Thanks, again

Thank you for posting the article on mullet fishing. I live in Okinawa Japan and the Japanese fish for mullet all day using a chum bait on the China Sea. I tried several trout flies on a 7wt flyrod to catch these nice size mullet and know they would give a good fight but they swim right by them. I will try your recommendations and perhaps have better luck.

I do know that it is not easy. You might get some help from the man that owns Just Reels.

Give him a try.

It has a long time since i´ve tried to cast a fly for this fish with no succes...Now, this report gave me new hope.
Here in Brazil we´ve diferent mullets along the shore. In the south, 3000 km from were i am, they seem to catch on anything even a bare hook!! But here at north they are much more selective. But i think the key are small flies and a lot of tryng, again and again...
