3-Week Solo Fly Fishing Road Trip
New Zealand is somewhere Pat's dreamed of fly fishing for over a decade. So, with a break in the guiding season, he finally pulled the trigger on a three-week solo road trip to see if the fishing he'd heard about for years could live up to the hype.
With a van as home and no real itinerary, the plan was simple, follow recommendations from mates, talk to locals along the way, find good weather and of course, chase giant trout.
There were plenty of spooky fish, changing plans and rivers blown out by rain, but among that were some of the best days trout fishing Pat had ever experienced. With PB's broken, world-class mayfly hatches, sight casting to trophy fish and remote backcountry fly fishing that dreams are made of, this trip was truly something special.
New Zealand is a bucket list fly fishing destination for all trout anglers, and if this trip is anything to go off, it's clear to see why!
