Off the Schneid

First Trout of the Season

It took me a few outings, but I've finally put the first trout of the season in the net.

So I was hanging around the house Sunday morning, looking outside. It had been sunny, bright, and hot for several days - not optimal trout fishing conditions - but this morning was overcast with a on again off again drizzle. "Ah ha!!!".

So I negotiated some fishing time with my better half and broke all manner of speed records getting gear loaded into the car and off I went to a favorite stretch of water.

which produced several trout similar to this one, and one beauty rainbow that slipped away before I could snap a pic.

I wish now I had taken a water temp. There wasn't much in the way of insect activity going on - a stray yellow sally here and there - but the fish were definitely interesting in feeding as they bopped a drifted nymph with gusto.

It appears that trout season is here to stay.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
