This pattern, originated by Ken Thayer, tends to work well as a general searching pattern for most seasons. The colors are very 'fishy' and are suggestive of a large variety of small minnows. Tie the pattern in sizes from 2 thru 10 sized to the prevalent bait fish in the stream that you fish.
