Global Fly Fisher, Fishing in Denmark - October 17th 1997
The trout have returned After a terrible 1996, a dissapointing spring this year and an extremely hot summer, it seems that the sea trout are now returning to the Danish coasts. There are consistent reports from all our coasts and both fly and spin fishers are catching fish in a respectable number and in good sizes too. The recent weeks have seen a lot of harsh, cold, north-western wind, which is not very good for the fishing but very good for the water. We have had some severe examples of oxygen deficit this year, but the colder weather and the wind has restored much of the water. A few places - like the Mariager Fjord - will not be itself right away, but the catastrophic incident here with total destruction of all life, has brought political focus on the problems with farmland polluting with nutrients.
