10. Change your tactics

It's easy to become a slave of habits. Practically all fishers will calm down with what they know best: a certain rod and line combination, a certain leader length and tippet size, a few proven flies. We lull ourselves to sleep with the same casting type and rhythm and attack the water in the same way every time we get there. If that doesn't pay off it might be high time to change your tactics.
Fish radically differently! Surprise yourself!

Change the trusty floater to a sink tip line. Extend the leader and make it extremely thin. Fish with weighted flies and a split shot. Fish down in stead of upstream.
Just do something differently from what you usually do.
Remember to listen to others and see what they do. Be open to new ideas. That's the way you develop as a fisher.

Section: The best fly patterns from all over the globe
The Sirrus COMATRIX 9 wt. is in many ways the perfect pike fishing tool - able to lift and cast large and heavy flies, and with one serious butt section. Dutch Henk Verhaar test fished it in his favorite pike waters and was very pleased.
Chris Edghill writes: "Fascinating to se how they worked together, one would dive in between the rocks and sea grass, completely burying itself and the others just milled around waiting for a shrimp to dart out from it’s hiding place where it would be quickly devoured."
There are thousands of shrimp patterns in the world, made from the same template. This pattern is a time consumer, but it makes it more interesting tying shrimp flies. The eyes, proportions and legs gives this pattern some kind of magic.
